Horizontal Diesel Dredge Pump
The horizontal diesel dredge pump is powered by a diesel engine matched with the horizontal dredge pump. The entire unit is widely used in dredgers and land dredge booster pump transportation due to its reliability, durability and ability to provide a large amount of power for a long time.
There are different methods of connecting a diesel engine to a dredge pump: belt drive, direct coupling, and gearbox connection.
Belt Drive: This involves using belts to connect the diesel engine’s pulley to the pulley on the pump shaft. However, the efficiency is compromised due to energy losses caused by belt slippage and friction. Belts also require regular replacement and maintenance. This method is typically used for smaller pumps and lower-powered diesel engines.
Direct Coupling via Coupling Disc: This method offers a compact design and high efficiency. The design is streamlined, reducing maintenance requirements compared to belt drives.
Connection via Gearbox: A gearbox is employed to connect the diesel engine to the dredge pump. The gearbox facilitates the adjustment of speed and torque between the engine and pump, allowing for optimized performance according to operational demands. Gearboxes are particularly beneficial when the engine and pump operate within different speed ranges or when significant speed reduction is ecessary.
